Standard 2 states “Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments”. I believe this standard means that as teachers, we need to incorporate the use of technology in the classroom. There are so many different things that can be incorporated in the classroom. Smart boards are becoming very popular in the classroom. The students can see everything the teacher is doing and it is clearer than the old projectors. In this standard, I believe that it says that teachers should have the students use technology to promote them to become active participants. By this, I think it means that teachers should have assignments where they research a topic or do an assignment online. They can be active participants in their grades and emails also. They can keep up to date with things that are going on in the classroom. Some students are visual learners so using things from the computer to show them would be great in their learning process. Being able to personalize the learning activities is very crucial in teaching because the teacher needs to get on the students level and figure out what they like and teach on that subject. Technology promotes a variety of different assignments. Students can take a virtual tour of something or research a topic. They can also play educational games or read books on the computer. All of these are good ways to use a range of diverse things dealing with technology in the classroom. Teachers need to learn how to develop digital-age teaching styles.

I love how you mentioned the smart board as a way to incorporate technology. In high school some of our teachers used smart boards and I loved it! I plan to use smart boards when I teach in the furute.
ReplyDeleteI think smart boards are a very smart choice. Projectors are good, but they have limits. With a smart board there are limitless possibilities because that is what they were made for!
ReplyDeleteI love the use of SmartBoards in the classroom. I have used them in my practicum experiences and it is a great tool for students to learn other than lecture. When students are more visual learners this really helps them grasp the content.
ReplyDeleteSmart boards are fantastic! I went to a public highschool where there were no use of smart boards, just old fashioned chalk boards. Then I switched to a private school where there were smart boards in every classroom, they make teaching much more engaging among the students, and offer a variety in the classroom. GREAT IDEA!
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to school through junior high and high school, the teachers used those old projectors to teach lessons and I felt that was so boring. I feel that if they have used these SmartBoards, it would have made their lessons a lot more interesting and made it a lot easier for me to learn. I definitely hope that I have one in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a lot of student are visual learners. A computer is a great way to help those students learn. They would be able to see what they are learning, and also interact with computer assignments.
ReplyDeleteAlso, using technology to play learning games with students is a good way to get students involved and interested with class material. Also using iclickers and other interactive technology can become enjoyable for the students as well as the teachers.
