Standard five says that teachers need to “engage in professional growth and leadership”. It is so important for teachers to be professional. The reason for teachers to have to continuously go to workshops and meetings is for them to grow professionally. The education system is constantly changing from day to day and they need to stay up to date on what is going on. Teachers need to be leaders in the classroom. Students watch every move that the teachers make and the teachers should do things that are easily and rightful able to be repeated. The teachers are role models for the children and they look up to them so it is so important to do the right things. The teacher should be about to reflect and keep up to date on what is going on in the profession of teaching. They should be able to emerge new incoming technologies into the classroom. Most of all, the teacher needs to be professional in everything that he or she does. I believe that being professional is in and out of the classroom. People in the community are very aware that a person is a teacher in the school system and all eyes are on them. People know that teachers have to be role models for the students and they are judged very crucially. I will make sure that this is something I focus on when beginning to teach. Even though the teaching part itself is important, if you are not professional you will never succeed in the education field.

Being professional is a must when it comes to teaching. Whether we realize it or not, the students do watch our every move. I agree that teachers are role models because many students do not have anyone to look up to.
ReplyDeleteI believe as a teacher being professional should always be your first priority, because if you have this then you in turn have respect. This is important as a teacher of your students and your co-workers. Professionalism is key in being successful in all aspects of your job.
ReplyDeleteVery good point in saying that the students watch your every move and that teachers should do things that students can easily and rightfully repeat.
Teachers should always take the opportunity to learn and grow. Engaging in activities that provide that growth is very important.
ReplyDeleteTeachers are definitely supposed to be role models to their students. This has become evident to me throughout my years of schooling. It was my school teachers that inspired me to be who I am today and to go into the educational field. If not for them I probably would not be where I am today, nor would I have been as inspired to positively impact children's lives.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you about professionalism in teaching. Teachers should strive for growth as teachers by learning to become more professional so that they could offer the best quality of education to children.
ReplyDeleteI agree teachers a roles models in the classroom, and sometimes they forget this. It is up to teachers to set the example for future teachers. It is also important that teacher maintain a professional attitude at all times.
ReplyDeleteI believe teachers are role models. I believe they take on that risks and responsibility when they sign the contracts to agree with the terms. I believe teachers do have the responsibility to make sure no child is left behind and make sure ALL their students get the best education they possibly can. The best education might include more technology used in the classroom; so teachers do have that responsibility to students, especially to future business leaders, since businesses 75% of the time use technology in some form or fashion and will frequently upgrade their technology as well.
